The Gwangju Uprising (Gwangju Democratization Movement) 
 
The Gwangju Uprising occurred from May 18th to 27th in the southern city of Gwangju. Many people rebelled against the government that was run by Doo-hwan Jun who ruled the government with the virtual dictatorship because they were unsatisfied with the way the government worked. This is the one of the most important and memorable historical events in Korea.

After listing all the facts about Gwangju Uprising, I was shocked again. I am very thankful that this didn't happen in my life time. I am also very thankful that this how this event has changed the society. If this did not happen, the future in the past, the present where I am existing would have no freedom. It would have been full of limitation that is caused from the communism. Like what I said in the post that I posted in the past, I am shocked that the head of the massacre was only imprisoned for only two years and was released. Still, there are many political scandals happening and I really want to prevent people from repeating the past. I think it is very significant to block the unrightfulness and unjustifying decision that the government is making.

February Post I

Based on the information from the reasearch of Gwangju Uprising, I found a very interesting fact. Most of the people who instigated the protest against the government was students. In other words, they were in my age and were brave enough to fight agaisnt what they really want, freedom. If I was in their shoes, I can't imagine myself sacrificing myself to gain 'freedom'. I will be satisfy with what I have because of the fear of being slaughter by the government. It was a disaster. The hell where people have no hope and no future from the force from the government. If people got caught with the action of protest, they lose everything: lose what they had called 'freedom' that doesn't really set people free. Gwangju Uprising reminds me of the era when Korea was the colony of Japan. The time when Korea was the colony of Japan was during 1910 - 1945.
