February Post I

Based on the information from the reasearch of Gwangju Uprising, I found a very interesting fact. Most of the people who instigated the protest against the government was students. In other words, they were in my age and were brave enough to fight agaisnt what they really want, freedom. If I was in their shoes, I can't imagine myself sacrificing myself to gain 'freedom'. I will be satisfy with what I have because of the fear of being slaughter by the government. It was a disaster. The hell where people have no hope and no future from the force from the government. If people got caught with the action of protest, they lose everything: lose what they had called 'freedom' that doesn't really set people free.
Gwangju Uprising reminds me of the era when Korea was the colony of Japan. The time when Korea was the colony of Japan was during 1910 - 1945. Japan trespass on Korea and kill the powerful government figure, the queen of Korea, Queen Myeongseong to declare the colonization. There was no freedom to Korean. Many people fought to find back their freedom and country but it wasn't easy. People who protested against the Japanese government were killed and tourtured. To Korean, these period was a massacre of Japanese government. The main issue was and still is comfort women, in other word, sexual slavery by the Imperial Japanese army. Imperial Japanese army kidnapped young women and used them as sexual slavery. Some of them were killed after the undergo of disgracefulness that was caused by the army. Still, Korean government is asking for the apology but there is no answer from Japanese government.
These two events, Gwangju Uprising and the Colonization, are similar in many ways. The two events failed to receive the apologies and still there are many people who experienced and hurted from these two significant event. It is also interesting to see how young students instigated the protesting to obtain what they really want and need.

After listing all the facts about Gwangju Uprising, I was shocked again. I am very thankful that this didn't happen in my life time. I am also very thankful that this how this event has changed the society. If this did not happen, the future in the past, the present where I am existing would have no freedom. It would have been full of limitation that is caused from the communism. Like what I said in the post that I posted in the past, I am shocked that the head of the massacre was only imprisoned for only two years and was released. Still, there are many political scandals happening and I really want to prevent people from repeating the past. I think it is very significant to block the unrightfulness and unjustifying decision that the government is making.

May Post I

On May 25th, I presented my project to my classmates and visitors.  As I reflect on the past process of the signature project, I learned many things that I did not realized in the past. Once again, I realized how important it is to keep the work on time. The given time is not really an enough time to do a project on my interests; I needed more time than the time I had. If I started my project early, I wouldn't have to rush myself to finish it and would have ended up with better project and presentation. From the signature experience, I found and now am sure of what I want to do in the closest future. I enjoyed the project by using art to communicate with people with art. It made me to self-improve by reflecting on myself by writing the blog posts and improve in many ways by talking to teachers and mentors. It is one of unforgettable memory that Emma has gave me. Thank everyone who has been part of my project.
