May Post I

On May 25th, I presented my project to my classmates and visitors.  As I reflect on the past process of the signature project, I learned many things that I did not realized in the past. Once again, I realized how important it is to keep the work on time. The given time is not really an enough time to do a project on my interests; I needed more time than the time I had. If I started my project early, I wouldn't have to rush myself to finish it and would have ended up with better project and presentation. From the signature experience, I found and now am sure of what I want to do in the closest future. I enjoyed the project by using art to communicate with people with art. It made me to self-improve by reflecting on myself by writing the blog posts and improve in many ways by talking to teachers and mentors. It is one of unforgettable memory that Emma has gave me. Thank everyone who has been part of my project.

April Post II

After listing all the facts about Gwangju Uprising, I was shocked again. I am very thankful that this didn't happen in my life time. I am also very thankful that this how this event has changed the society. If this did not happen, the future in the past, the present where I am existing would have no freedom. It would have been full of limitation that is caused from the communism. Like what I said in the post that I posted in the past, I am shocked that the head of the massacre was only imprisoned for only two years and was released. Still, there are many political scandals happening and I really want to prevent people from repeating the past. I think it is very significant to block the unrightfulness and unjustifying decision that the government is making.

April Post I

I wanted to summarize the facts of Gwangju Uprising in bullet points because some people are having difficulty understanding what the event is really about.  - 5.18 Gwangju Uprising is a national commemorative holiday.  - From 18th, the soldiers started to kill people by using guns and that caused the citizen to become citizen soldiers who fight against the government soldiers.  - 168 citizens were killed and total 4782 people were injured from protecting the city hall from the government soldiers. It was the final resistance to the government. - There was no single article or news about the event in May, 1980. The foreign reporter was the first one to reveal the truth of the Gwangju Uprising.  - The head of the massacre was imprisoned for only two years and was released.  Site:  https://www.huffingtonpost.kr/2016/05/18/story_n_10015576.html

March Post II

I was wondering the recent state of the former president Doo-Hwan Chun who caused the mass of innocent death from the Gwangju Uprising. He is still alive and live like normal people with his family. Unlike him, the former president, Geun-Hae Park, is arrested because of her unrightful action while she had the authority of president. Also the another former president, MB LEE, is arrested because of his unrightful action. I was wondering why the former president, Doo-Hwan Chun, is not still arrested and not having the consequence of killing innocent people. He defends his action by saying the Gwangju Uprising was needed to develop the society but many people disagree with him. I am planning to come up with another post about the former president Doo-Hwan Chun. I will interview my parents who were alive during that time era and my sister who weren't alive during that time era about the thoughts of Doo-Hwan Chun.

I found every important fact of the happening. There was one person who had the authority of police and who rejected the order from the government who was telling him to kill people who are protesting against the government. The reason why he rejected the order was that the police can't kill the citizens who they have to protect. He took all the weapons and things that could harm people in order to prevent the adventitious attack. However, the government made the airborne troop to be involve in the situation. He helped the citizens by helping injured people with cure, buying them new clothings, and buying them food. Even with the order of the government (to kill any citizen who tempts to behave against the government), he order to his followers to not kill the citizens and not to capture people who run away and hide. However, the government disliked how he rejected the order and helped the citizens. Thus, they tortured him by saying that him rebelling against the government and he

I interviewed my mom who was indirectly influenced by the event. She lived in Seoul during the time. She was a college student who wasn't involve in the demo or any protest. She was a student who was waiting for the graduation. She knew how the situation was getting worse but did not know the details. Like how other people were, she thought that it was just a little happening that was caused by government and some group of gangsters. She told me that some of her friends who were active in the protest were captured by the police and were humiliated by the public. She told me that by the time went, the situation was getting worse and worse. And sudden, the truth of the happening revealed. Everyone heard and knew about the truth after the revealing the truth by the foreign reporter,  J ürgen Hinzpeter. Including my mom, everyone was surprised by the villain action of the government. The government tried to kill people who protest against the government and who knew the truth. She told

Based on the information from the reasearch of Gwangju Uprising, I found a very interesting fact. Most of the people who instigated the protest against the government was students. In other words, they were in my age and were brave enough to fight agaisnt what they really want, freedom. If I was in their shoes, I can't imagine myself sacrificing myself to gain 'freedom'. I will be satisfy with what I have because of the fear of being slaughter by the government. It was a disaster. The hell where people have no hope and no future from the force from the government. If people got caught with the action of protest, they lose everything: lose what they had called 'freedom' that doesn't really set people free. Gwangju Uprising reminds me of the era when Korea was the colony of Japan. The time when Korea was the colony of Japan was during 1910 - 1945. Japan trespass on Korea and kill the powerful government figure, the queen of Korea, Queen Myeongseong to declare the
